Teeth Whitening

Over time, teeth can become stained or discolored. Using a chemical process, there are two methods that your dentist can use when it comes to bleaching your teeth. He can do an in-office procedure, or provide you with a system to use at home.

A custom mouthpiece tray can be fabricated to ensure a right amount of whitening solution reaches your teeth. In-office whitening can take place in one office visit lasting 1 1/2 hour.

Your teeth can become stained again so you will have to help and maintain them after your whitening visit. It is important to maintain good oral hygiene and continue to use oral rinses on a daily basis as you normally would to maintain the new look on your teeth after whitening.

Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin casings made of porcelain that are attached to the front surfaces of teeth for an instant transformation in your smile. They cover the front sides of the teeth to change their specific coloring or even their shape. The life span of a veneer is longer than that of bonding and dental veneers are known to provide a superior appearance.

Veneers can improve teeth that:

  • Have spaces in between teeth
  • Have chips or have been worn down
  • Are permanently stained
  • Are poorly shaped
  • Are slightly crooked

Porcelain veneers are made in a laboratory, so you be asked to come back for a second visit to the dentist to have them fitted and inserted.

Crowns

Crowns are used to completely cover a tooth to be restored and create a normal shape and look. Crowns are extremely effective dental tools for:

  • Covering tooth discolorations or shape abnormalities.
  • Protecting a weak tooth
  • Restoring a broken tooth or one subjected to grinding
  • Covering sizable or visible fillings
  • Securing dental bridges
  • Covering a dental implant
  • Covering a tooth following completion of a root canal

Crowns are frequently composed of metal, porcelain fused to metal, resin, or a better choice, Zirconia.

Braces

All age groups are benefiting from braces today. Braces and orthodontic treatment are used to correct bad bites and teeth that are crowded or crooked. In some cases your teeth many not have any issues, your upper and lower jaws do not meet properly. In those cases braces can be used to align both jaws.

Bridges

Sometimes called a fixed partial denture, bridges are a common for missing teeth. Bridges can be made up of gold, metal alloys, porcelain, and at times both. Bridges are anchored to neighboring after preparing them for crowns. A false tooth joins to the crowns cement is applied to the prepped teeth in order facilitate bridge adhesion.

Oral hygiene is important to keep remaining teeth healthy to maintain a healthy bridge.

Implants

Implants usually are done through a series of appointments. An implant and a crown can replace a missing tooth. A dental implant replaces both the lost natural tooth and its root.. A surgeon implants them surgically into the jawbone.

There are three parts to an implant:

  1. The placement of the implant which fuses to the jawbone
  2. An abutment which is used to hold the implant and crown together
  3. The crown which is custom made for each specific mouth

An implant can be utilized to replace a tooth. The doctor can determine if you are eligible for dental implants.
